My name is Joan McMillan and this blog is, as Emily Dickinson says, "my letter to the world." I am currently working on a nonfiction book about the murder of a young woman, Asha Veil, born Joanna Dragunowicz, and her unborn daughter, Anina, on September 9, 2006. My book is meant to honor her life and illuminate the need to create a safer world for women and children.

Dreamed
I dreamed the person in question and I were together with a beautiful baby girl. She was so cute, with blue eyes like him and with my dark hair. She could walk, so I guess she was more of a toddler. He was so proud of her and showed her off to everyone. We were at San Jose State where I teach, and he was walking all around with us. Curiously, there were two really beautiful dogs with us, which would be unlikely in real life, but the sense was that they protected us. It was a truly beautiful. dream and I woke happy. It is nice to have something like this.
