Thistle's school had a barn dance yesterday, with a potluck beforehand and a great band. The caller was amazingly patient with the "herding cats" aspect of creating a dance with a bunch of rowdy kids and families. The cutest sight was Thistle and all her kindergarten friends holding hands and trying to do line dances.
It was nice to see so many people having fun. It was a good respite from the book for a bit; one has to allow for these things.
My name is Joan McMillan and this blog is, as Emily Dickinson says, "my letter to the world." I am currently working on a nonfiction book about the murder of a young woman, Asha Veil, born Joanna Dragunowicz, and her unborn daughter, Anina, on September 9, 2006. My book is meant to honor her life and illuminate the need to create a safer world for women and children.
