Trying to get some writing in before traipsing out to the woods for the lunar eclipse. There was something very healing for me about the April blood moon....I watched the whole thing, sitting in the woods on a chair while the mountain lion screamed in the distance. I was not scared. I don't recommend this, by the way...it's just sort of the way I am.

My name is Joan McMillan and this blog is, as Emily Dickinson says, "my letter to the world." I am currently working on a nonfiction book about the murder of a young woman, Asha Veil, born Joanna Dragunowicz, and her unborn daughter, Anina, on September 9, 2006. My book is meant to honor her life and illuminate the need to create a safer world for women and children.
