Betty Friedan, in memory

“A woman has got to be able to say, and not feel guilty, ‘Who am I, and what do I want out of life?' She mustn't feel selfish and neurotic if she wants goals of her own, outside of husband and children.''--Betty Friedan, The Feminine Mystique.

Femnist icon Betty Friedan has died. I had no idea that The Feminine Mystique was published in 1963! Friedan had an amazing life; I admired her willingness to refine her philosophies, tackling issues of ageism as she herself entered her last years. The Los Angeles Times has a good piece on her. Thank you for fighting the good fight, Betty!

Hard to believe she's gone...but her legacy, well, what an amazing one she leaves. One that affects all women today.

Thanks for remembering her, Joan.

Oh, by the way, I finally got around to linking your blog to mine. :)

By the way, Joan, I'm just curious if all your posts are linked to Dr. Bonner's on purpose. Or did you forget to close your html tag on the side panel thingy?

I keep clicking on your text since it's a hyperlink--thinking it'll take me somewhere related to the subject you're discussing, but it's always to the same site.

Hi--Thanks for comments, everyone. I didn't know everything was leading to Dr. Bronner, Julie! When I click on the links, they seem to go to the right place. I'll check it out--I know nothing about html! thanx
