I just wanted to post here that I am very proud of my daughter, "Prada" (we use nicknames on this blog for a relative amount of privacy). She is in her last two weeks of her second year of college, and working very hard. It was very nice to see her this weekend; Mr. Strega and I brought her groceries from New Leaf Market and took her to the pizza place we always seem to go to in San Francisco ('cause it is open late).
I am amazed at what a wonderful artist and talent she is.
Prada, hang in there--you're doing great!
My name is Joan McMillan and this blog is, as Emily Dickinson says, "my letter to the world." I am currently working on a nonfiction book about the murder of a young woman, Asha Veil, born Joanna Dragunowicz, and her unborn daughter, Anina, on September 9, 2006. My book is meant to honor her life and illuminate the need to create a safer world for women and children.

Thanks for your nice message on my site, Ms. Strega -- as soon as I saw "strega" I thought my mom had finally figured out how to register for a blogger account and leave me a comment, because that's just the alias she would choose! We lived in Italy when I was younger and she loves kitchen witches. and sometimes jokes about being a strega. I love that word! Nice to read about your daughter here, is she in art school? Also, spent many weekends in Santa Cruz some years ago. A lovely place!
What a beautiful post! I wish every daughter (and son) could have a truly supportive, encouraging, vibrant relationship with their mother. I always assumed everyone did, and I was sadly wrong. YOu and your daughter should toast to your support of one another!
Thank you so much, Laini and Alexandra. Yes, my daughter is in art school, studying fashion design. I appreciate both your comments so much!
Thank you mother,
you always told me to fallow my dreams.Your my inspiration.
