My name is Joan McMillan and this blog is, as Emily Dickinson says, "my letter to the world." I am currently working on a nonfiction book about the murder of a young woman, Asha Veil, born Joanna Dragunowicz, and her unborn daughter, Anina, on September 9, 2006. My book is meant to honor her life and illuminate the need to create a safer world for women and children.

Almost Over
Well, my week and a half off school has been lovely. I am glad I got all my correcting done before break. I did a lot of dance and yoga classes, got several batches of poems sent off, finished a new poem and started another, started my garden, read many books, and am now ready to get back in the classroom. I am really looking forward to a full summer break.
