Just for the record, lupus chemotherapy is REAL chemo. Unlike many cancer protocols, I will be taking some form of chemo for the rest of my life. Today I am bedridden with nausea so bad I can't stand up (if I toss my cookies, the Imuran goes with it right now). I am keeping down the following, which is the only thing I can eat: frozen mixed berries with cold filtered water poured over them. The water becomes like juice and the berries thaw out but are still cold, slushy, and sweet. That is it, though.
CG came by to take Thistle to an appointment, and encouraged me to go out to my garden and sit in the sun for a bit. I think I will do that soon.
Some days are like this.
Later: I took a long nap this afternoon, and was able to get to dance class, and then had some ice cream after (creme fraiche rhubarb at the Penny Creamery). That was dinner for tonight...on these days, I feed my body what it can tolerate.
My name is Joan McMillan and this blog is, as Emily Dickinson says, "my letter to the world." I am currently working on a nonfiction book about the murder of a young woman, Asha Veil, born Joanna Dragunowicz, and her unborn daughter, Anina, on September 9, 2006. My book is meant to honor her life and illuminate the need to create a safer world for women and children.
