There is a person who comes to this blog, a local woman. She seems to have a non-mutual friend with me. All I can say is, beware, my dear. It is not you he wants; it is something you have. You tell everyone who does not share your world view they are asleep, but you are the one so wrapped up in your causes that you do not see the predator inching closer. He knows you are looking the other way. It's the one sure thing he can count on.
In a year or so, when everything falls to disaster and you are left alone, holding the entrails of a horrible secret, don't say you weren't forewarned.
My name is Joan McMillan and this blog is, as Emily Dickinson says, "my letter to the world." I am currently working on a nonfiction book about the murder of a young woman, Asha Veil, born Joanna Dragunowicz, and her unborn daughter, Anina, on September 9, 2006. My book is meant to honor her life and illuminate the need to create a safer world for women and children.
