Just a reminder: if you are due for your first colonoscopy, or any subsequent one: make the appointment today. Don't put it off and off like I did (looking back, I don't know why I kept doing that).
I had a colonoscopy last week (the full look-see) and they found a precancerous polyp, which was completely removed, stopping the problem in its tracks. I will need the procedure a little more frequently in future.
I was put to sleep for the procedure (unlike the last one I had, well over ten years ago, where they gave me something akin to twilight sleep. I was somewhat conscious but completely pain-free and watched the whole procedure on the monitor.
My cardiologist had to approve the procedure, but other than that, there was no problem (except that waking from anesthesia and the aftermath was not like "having the best sleep of my life." I had nightmares and a sense of dissociation for a couple of days after).
So, that's it for my public service announcement of the day.
