It has been a very busy week on Planet Joanie, so I have not posted (my garden is being planted, mostly with drought tolerant plants--morning glories, nasturtiums, etc). I am inheriting a very large half-wine-barrel in the next few days, which I am going to fill with veggie "starts" and maybe some sunflowers also. Gardening is the one thing that consistently makes me happy. My roses got a huge pruning some time back and I am about to be rewarded with masses of them
In other news, my first set of blood tests post-chemotherapy came back and I am doing absolutely great--everything was normal except for extremely low white blood cells, which is always expected in chemo (and why I have to be so careful about infection). My doctor is very happy and so am I.
So, lots of good news this week. I hope to be posting daily again starting this week.
My name is Joan McMillan and this blog is, as Emily Dickinson says, "my letter to the world." I am currently working on a nonfiction book about the murder of a young woman, Asha Veil, born Joanna Dragunowicz, and her unborn daughter, Anina, on September 9, 2006. My book is meant to honor her life and illuminate the need to create a safer world for women and children.
