This was one of the most beautiful gifts I have ever received. The photo does not do justice to the beautiful colors of this tile, which is on my writing desk in my office.
A personal note to someone specific: If I had a way to clean up all this mess, I would gladly go back in time to do it. If I could go back further, I would try to remedy it all somehow. I, a writer by trade, have no words to express the remorse and sadness I feel, over everything that created this chasm. Believe me when I say I wish I could go back in time to erase it, to make it over, to take action before it was all too late. Please do not take anything I said in anger to heart. Of this, we are both at fault, like so many who slip their reason in a time of great suffering. Neither of us meant this hurt.
I love you always, and always, every day, I miss you. Perhaps one day you might come across this, like a message in a bottle. Please know that message is true, now, and always.
Love and light, Joanie
My name is Joan McMillan and this blog is, as Emily Dickinson says, "my letter to the world." I am currently working on a nonfiction book about the murder of a young woman, Asha Veil, born Joanna Dragunowicz, and her unborn daughter, Anina, on September 9, 2006. My book is meant to honor her life and illuminate the need to create a safer world for women and children.
