I am seeing a friend, with whom I am very close and so happy to be around, off for a long-ish vacation. I can say for certain that the next several weeks are going to be extremely difficult. I will have to harness all of my spiritual resources for comfort and strength. I wish with all my heart I were going with them, but that seems foolish and unreasonable.
I can't handle loneliness very well, my friends. I want my friend to have a wonderful time, but when they go, I feel their absence. Facebook helps!
My name is Joan McMillan and this blog is, as Emily Dickinson says, "my letter to the world." I am currently working on a nonfiction book about the murder of a young woman, Asha Veil, born Joanna Dragunowicz, and her unborn daughter, Anina, on September 9, 2006. My book is meant to honor her life and illuminate the need to create a safer world for women and children.
