It Is All I Can Do

Dear readers, the political atmosphere in this country, plus painful experiences in my family, have made me want to stay away from all writing (except for very light things).

As our country moves inexorably to a dictatorship, I become afraid to write what I need to publicly. Is it paranoid to think our government could take Thistle, still a child, away from me if I write negatively about Trump? Is that time coming to us?

And still I must begin again. I pray for witnesses to be approved in this impeachment. I think John Bolton, with damning evidence against the Pretender-in-Chief, should simply enter the Senate chamber and insist on speaking. I think Mitt Romney (who clearly hates Trump) should push for witnesses in the impeachment trial.

What is a trial without witnesses or the means to explore evidence in depth? The Pretender-In-Chief calls this perfectly legal action, well within the boundaries of the Constitution, a sham—when the truth is, the Senate—not willing to fall out of favor with their dictator—is trying to block calling witnesses to testify. Over seventy percent of Americans want witnesses to testify. Surely some of these even include Trump supporters!

I pray there are enough votes to produce witnesses. I pray that this trial extends well into the election cycle and the President is found guilty and removed, so that Pence has about fifteen minutes to devote to his own re-election.

And major, MAJOR kudos to the Democratic impeachment managers, the House, and Nancy Pelosi for their courage and devotion to this country.

I have been away, dear readers. But definitely, I am not gone.
